Youth Empowerment Through Education (YETE)

Our Youth Empowerment Through Education (YETE) Program delivers hands-on training, mentorship, and real-world learning experiences across multiple career tracks. Including Culinary Arts, Entrepreneurship, Construction, and Public Service, helping youth ages 10–17 gain practical skills, service credits, and pathways to employment.

A Typical Week in the YETE Program

Each week in the YETE program is designed to engage youth ages 10–17 in hands-on career training, community service, and mentorship activities. The program meets 2 to 3 times weekly for 2–3 hour sessions that combine learning, skill-building, and real-world experience.

Day 1: Orientation & Skill Development: Participants start with a warm welcome and dive into skill-building in their chosen career track. Guest speakers may join to share insights.

Day 2: Hands-On Practice & Mentorship: Students engage in practical projects with guidance from mentors. Students also work on logging their community service hours.

Day 3: Community Service & Reflection: The group participates in a community service activity, followed by reflection discussions.

Impact of the YETE Program

The YETE program strives to transform the lives of underserved youth by equipping them with practical skills, confidence, and meaningful community connections. Participants gain hands-on experience in career fields that spark their interests, helping them discover their strengths and passions early on.

By engaging in real-world projects, community service, and mentorship, youth develop a strong sense of responsibility, teamwork, and leadership. The program also supports academic success by providing student credit for participation, helping keep youth motivated and on track for graduation.

Graduates leave with enhanced communication, problem-solving abilities, and a professional network that supports their growth, fostering self-esteem and resilience, empowering youth to envision and pursue brighter futures.

Community Service and Mentorship

Community Service: The YETE program integrates community service as a core component, encouraging participants to apply their skills in real-world settings that benefit their neighborhoods. Youth engage in organized service projects, helping youth develop a sense of civic responsibility, teamwork, and empathy while earning valuable student service credits.

Mentorship: Mentorship is embedded throughout the program to provide youth with guidance, encouragement, and real-life perspectives on career and personal growth. Experienced professionals connect regularly with participants—offering advice, skill coaching, and support. Mentors serve as role models and help youth navigate challenges, set goals, and build confidence.
